Hey everybody!!!

Thunderhill Full Throttle Under Construction

Thunderhill is full throttle - Operation: Repave! One thing I think many people haven’t gotten word of is that there is much more going on here than just a 2 inch overlay. It is a 2 inch overlay of the smoothest possible, longest lasting asphalt available to anybody!

Not only is the track getting paved, but we are doing everything we can to make the entire facility a better place. There is a new big canopy going up in front of the clubhouse. It will be exactly like the one that is in the north end of the paddock. So next time you visit there will be TWICE as much covered paddock space as the last time you were here. The entire infield is being graded by very big equipment. This has many benefits. It makes the already abundant runoff room even wider in many areas, it will make it easier for our crew to mow to prevent fires, and it will make it easier for groups to dispatch safety vehicles through the infield, such as the National Auto Sport Association does in the famous 25 Hours of Thunderhill. A couple hills are even being cut way down to improve vision through the corner. The clubhouse is getting redecorated so you can actually look forward to your next driver’s meeting. The Turn Worker boxes are all getting touched up to make it a nicer place for workers to flag and help keep all of us safe. An extra 50’ of asphalt are being added to the skid pad which has many uses. There is also going to be a new wall of 8’X16’ billboards in the infield. This is a great way to advertise your business and support the track.

I know everybody is just chomping at the bit to hear about the curbing. Most of the curbs are being replaced and a few are just being notched and paved up to. I know everybody has their own opinion of how we should build the racetrack, but there are a couple things one needs to keep in mind before making suggestions. Thunderhill gets run clockwise AND counterclockwise. Also, cars AND bikes are run here both have different preferences for curbing. With that in mind we do our best to please everybody.

Let me tell you, as somebody who has raced here since Thunderhill opened 15 years ago it just keeps getting better!!!

As of today, 7/30/08, we have already scratched many items off of the long, multi-page “to-do list”. Check out the pics and see for yourself!

I’ll be doing daily posts at http://thegarageblog.com/garage/ where you can read about progress and even see pictures for yourself!!!

Geoff Pitts and myself will also be updating the Thunderhill blog daily: http://www.thunderhillraceway.blogspot.com/

See you at the track!!!

Hey Will,

Besides the paving of the track surface, will any other features be added? I had heard there were going to be some new run-off areas but no details.

Cheers,
Scott Neville
