thunderhill dynos 05/22/2010

I was out of town for the race weekend, but a little birdy sent me the dynos to post up here for all to see. I’m going to take a guess that the lucky winners of a free dyno were randomly selected.

They’re a little pixelated this time … not sure why.

How about some history on these motors? I’m curious to see how much better a fresh rebuild performs vs a junk yard motor.

TQ matters. How it is rebuilt matters. newer is better. Does that help? On track is all that matters.

Each guy will have to speak for himself. I don’t think you will get a straight answer though. the lyin’ and cheatin’ has begun on the westcoast and everybody is drivin’ an old motor which is way down on power, really!

Honestly the east coast guys have it all figured out. Us west coast guys are peein’ in the wind hoping we can figure something out before nationals. Most of the new motors are not much stronger than the 250k motors. The data we have so far from all our pulls has told us very little. The cars that pull hardest on the track seem to have numbers only slightly better than others. Some do have TQ start out 20 lbs higher right from the start and that does seem to matter.

One motor out here is real strong but the motor builder disappeared and no one seems to be able to find him. So we have to start from scratch. I think the driver of that car did away with him and sent him off to a witness relocation program.

Sorry I am not much help.

Well my motor is fresh, and it has good torque, but Hp sucks and everyone is walking away from me. My Old motor worked better, but I think something is not correct with the new motor. I made some changes this week, so I will have to see if I fixed the lost HP problem. If I can keep my Tq and get my HP back to 155, I think that will be hot.

From the looks of Andy on the Pole and top step of the podium, I think your mods worked. Congrats! Nice work BTM.

Nice, very nice… I don’t see getting passed 155 hp 155 tq legally possible (yet)… in my experience all these numbers are v.good numbers for an M20B25.

(white spots, light brown, dark oily or sooty, multi-coloured black and brown, etc.)

Take pictures in bright light for your mechanic and email them to him.
