The "ranger" syndrome stricks again...

#1

I just took apart the motor I fried at Lowes…I noticed some problems with the #1 piston, looked for some junk loose in that Cyl, one of the locating dowels was missing so the exhast valve was making slight contact with the piston…if I hadn’t smoked it it would have had low compression in #1 from a bent valve…

Lol, sorry man. I know it’s a pita. Just avoid Ranger Syndrome Mod1 where the head goes on w/o the rocker arm retaining pin.

Give me a call if you need moral (or morale) support.

I got 2 junkyard motors to choose from…I am going to a palm reader to find out which one is the best.

I heard that rocker piece hit the floor when I turned the head over…I am hoping to salvage the cam and rockers as it was a factory new head…not sure about the #1 exhast rocker though…

Hey Al,
Is the head destroyed? What about replacing the bent valve? We just did that on a “fun” i head on an e bottom end (forgot to TDC the head) and it worked out fine.

Al, since this is a new head, I would definitely try to salvage it. You can probably replace the valve and guide and clean up the chamber and all will be fine. Don’t forget to blue print the rockers, and make damn sure all the head locating sleeves are in place. If you need the head rebuilt, I can do that. Chuck
