The costs of racing

Logic kept me out of racing for quite a while - then I realized that I would regret not doing it a lot more than I would regret doing it.

And Jim is right - heroin & hookers ARE more socially acceptable than racing…

I choose to keep the finances in the closet where no one really knows. All my friends just think I have an old BMW I like to take to the track and “that can’t cost that much”. I choose to believe them!

Dave, you forgot to factor in the cost of cheater parts like Steve has, they are much more expensive. You also didn’t factor in wrecks. Maybe 100K is really a four year plan.

100k will go pretty far when you outsource your engineering to China.

As with F1 and Nascar the real money starts to show up in wind tunnel work. You wouldn’t believe what the University of CA. wants for supercomputer time for CFD analysis of our rear spoiler.

For couple of hundred dollars, Al’s Possum Institute of Technology (A’s PIT) will perform any analysis you want.

I think they use the fire hydrant down the country road to spray water on the rear spoiler. (Car wash at no extra charge.)

That deal only applies if you’re a girl (or Jones) and wearing a white t-shirt.

Don’t you have a race to get DQ’d from or something?

Steve D.

PS - The cheater parts are cheap until you find out it’s the wrong part and have to pay to replace it.

To end up with a small fortune after racing, start … with a LARGE one. 'nuff said.
