Hi all,
I am debating which swaybars to get – IE one or ST (I thought I had it figured out but guess not). How do they compare? Anyone has any issues with either one?
I think I heard that rear(?) ST bar might be a difficult fit…Also IE kit (I think) comes with that billet chassis reinforcement which can be a plus.
I have the ST bar kit and the rear bar was difficult to install. The 90 degree bends were not positioned correctly and some serious "convincing" was needed to get it in. I contacted ST then and they said that it hadn’t been a problem. I later found out that others had the same issue.
I also read/heard that they were going to change the design slightly so it would go in easier but I don’t know it that happened…which is actually one good thing about Spec E30. You build the car and don’t have to worry about these things any more.
Other than the installation of the rear bar, they’ve been fine.
the nice thing about the IE kit is that mounts and reinforcements are all included. Check flyingbrickperformance.com (sponsor) for a discounted price over IE direct.
cheers,
bruce

There was some discussing here a couple weeks ago about how the ST bars do not come with front links, so you would have to run stock to be legal. Not sure the performance difference, stock links cost ~$60 for the pair.
I think I have the ST bars…and the rear was a PITA…and the angle of the links reduce its function I think…shouldnt the end links be straight instead of laying at an angle?
I’m not sure we ever got an answer to that question.[/quote]
Everyone has been using the stock links that were on the car so they actually cost nothing.
Are any of you guys having trouble using the stock links? They look to have a ball joint design and haven’t been found to be worn out. I like to replace worn parts but these seem to be working just fine.
I’ve broken a front link racing - can you say instant oversteer? It was after dropping a wheel in a hole at an apex.
