sunroof removal

#1

I have started gutting the car and have a question regarding the roof. Are we allowed to cut out the metal structure that the sunroof slides back into? is the considered part of the sunroof cassette that is allowed to be removed. I’m a tall guy so the headroom would be welcomed. TIA

If you are after headroom I don’t think that you have to cut anything, i.e. everything unbolts. Only thing that can be cut is located behind driver/pass seat (it’s the ‘housing’ for the sunroof mechanism that is welded to the roof).

Igor, Damion and I both have our sunroof removed. Cutting out the 2" shell that would normally hide the retracted sunroof would allow the roll cage to be welded closer to the roof line which we would both like to do. We just want to make sure it is legal. Is it?

All the sunroof mechanism can be legally removed. However, make sure you look at the Spec E30 Rules and the NASA CCR before you remove anything.
