I’ve encountered some issues, specially in the electrical departement, while preparing my car.
I propose we have a sticky post with all the do’s and dont’s of car preparation.
Like, DON’T remove the little black box next to the amp in the trunk or the rear lights won’t work.
DON’T remove the alarm box or the car won’t start. Same with the overhead computer, etc.
What you say?
Sticky post proposal for newbies
Thanks for that heads up. I am getting ready to get my cage and will be stripping it down.
Yes, same with proper installation of some items, like the rear sway bar links.
DON’T:
DO:
DON’T REMOVE THE "BLACK BOX"
Vic - first sticky note. The ST bars are a much cleaner, easier to install, rear sway bar.

Cool. Pics?
What about removing the radio? I brought home an 88 325is today. I’m ready to start removing interior. The seller told me if I remove the radio the car won’t start?

The car will start.
Thanks. He did give me the code for the radio, but he made it sound like the ignition would be locked out if the radio was not in place. It didn’t make sense to me but I thought it better to ask first.

Easier… as long as you have a BFH. It took a lot of persuasion to get my ST bar in. The problem with mine was not the links, rather getting it to fit in between the bushings. Thank god I had the rear subframe out and was able to get the hammer up there. I called TMS and they said they designed it to be a tight fit:unsure:
Agreed - it was hard to get the bushings in, and it is very tight fit. I was primarily commenting on the end link issue.

What is that white container hanging in there? Looks like some filter.
That’s hilarious "the car won’t start if you take out the radio" Now thats a good theft deterrent system. I can’t wait to let that guy who said that work on my car.
