Starting Spec E30 Northeast

#1

Looking at the board, we seem to have about a half a dozen guys aimed at running 2007 in the Northeast.

Never having done W2W, I have a few organizational questions. Who would be doing the tech? Can you get it done before getting the the track and Comp school? How would they be qualified to do a Spec E30, aside from reading the rules? How about tracking and posting race results? I see MA being scrutineered by the founder of the series, do we need somebody to step up to do that here? I also see the E30 and 944 groups organized within NASA. How do you define responsibilities there? Should all these questions be directed at PDA/NASA NE?

I just want us to get off on a good footing with cars that are usable and legal at other regionals and the nationals.

Thanks

Christian

Christian
In NASA, racecars need a logbook. In that logbook you get an annual tech inspection by the regional tech staff. This is good for the season unless the car is in a wreck or is modified in some way that needs to be checked out by tech again. This inspection is a SAFETY only tech inspection. Class compliance is policed by competitors thru the protest process(hopefully not) or by a friendly conversation in the paddock regarding legality(hopefully this way) Series rules are determined by the series directors.

Thanks!

Our NASA NE guys aren’t too responsive (busy, I guess), so one more question, if I may. Does the National office provide a list of approved tech locations?

Christian
Generally that is done regionally.

As Spec E30 grows, we’ll apoint a Spec E30 Regional Director in each NASA Region.

Let’s all keep in touch so we can find someone to handle to duties. If you or someone you know is interested, send an email to me so we can discuss it.

Thanks!

I am currently prepping an 88 M3 as an HPDE car to get some seat time in, although I’m anticipating purchasing/building an SE30 car next winter (depending on what engine/$ I take with the M3 in the winter).

Would it be possible to come to a race and hang out/lend a hand with one of you guys in the paddock? I’d really like to see what SE30 is all about. If you need to replace a dash let me know, I did mine over the summer (what a PITA).

I’m a very novice driver but am really looking to get into racing and I’ve abandoned the Spec Miata route in favor of a car I’m already (vaguely) familiar with.

At the very least you have an extra set of hands to help. I’m in RI so the more local tracks the better.
