Been distracted lately on an e46 330i I bought a couple weeks ago. I got it for a great price because it needed some love. More that I’d realized actually. I’m doing a lot of loving. It’s turning out to be less of a bargain than I’d hoped.
New#6 got pulled out of the garage last weekend so I could bring the e46 in and work on it at night. The e46 is most certainly going to interfere with New#6’s progress. Can’t be helped. Obsessive behavior isn’t entirely reliable nor predictable. Only one obsession is allowed at a time, because if you split your forcus between two projects…well, that’s moderation, not obsession.
Today I finally pulled the last parts I wanted off of Old#6 and dropped it down off of the jackstands. Early next week it will be taken away to be ignominiously crushed. Damn how it looks sad sitting on the pavement with frame rails on some boards. For 5yrs it was my best friend as I poked around night after night scheming up interesting projects.
New #6 now has it’s bumpers and associated trim on, and I imagineered a shelf under the front bumper to hold the air dam on. The trick with an early E30 air dam is to fasten it up such that it stays in place, but a good whack will take it off intact. Air dams are a pita to find if you tear the crap out of yours everytime you take a shortcut thru the gravel trap.
