Springs availability?

#1

I know this has been covered, but looking for any update. I purchased and subsequently backordered H&R springs 2 weeks ago. When purchased I thought the retailer had in stock but they just informed me of backorder 4-6 weeks and offered a full refund. Does anyone have these or is it best to just stick it out with the order I have? I’d really like to get my hands on them and give my wife her garage back.

Cheers,
-AJ

try tire rack. They were supposed to get a stocking order delivered in may

I’ve had some backordered with BW and they should be delivered soon. I found out that the North American distribution center in Washington received a shipment that is going to be disbursed in the next couple of days. I don’t know if BW has any sets that aren’t spoken for, but I believe TMS has access to nine sets.

Carter:
have you received an update on the scarcity of the spec springs from H&R?

Just got off the phone with the Tirerack, where I had them backordered. They are being delivered on Monday the 12th. He said that I should have them by the 16th. That means that the trackday on the 28th should be a go…

I heard the same thing from H&R last week. They have received them and expect to start shipping out to the distributors this week.
I feel your pain, I have been back ordered since March. I had to resurrect the M3 to track status and proceeded to tear out the front sway/strut link bracket. Yes I had the strut reinforcement plates(sitting on the work bench at home) :S

You pulled out the what? I’m not following what bracket you’re referring to.

On the M3 the front sway bar link attaches to a bracket welded on the strut tube above the sway bar, not below on the control arm like the standard E30 attachment. These brackets are notorious for failing at the most inopportune time causing terminal oversteer. This is exactly what happened immediatley on turn-in at T-13 leading onto Buttonwillows front straight (config #13 CW). Quite the ride as I was looking at the inside wall out the windshield.

I have 5 sets of springs that will be in house within the week.

Walter, I’ll PM you. You asked in another thread if I was going the the CCA AX, well my suspension is apart awaiting springs. Sooner I get em the sooner I’m back in action, the 28th is more likely. The other guy (not BW or TMS) told me 4-6 weeks on springs, so I am game. I would prefer to also get my IE camber plates from BW before reassembly ideally…

I did not know that - still learning something new evey day!

The reason for this is to effectively increase the rate of the front bar without increasing the size/weight

#13

That makes sense as it would provide more leverage.

Chris - I was going to note that it’s probably a good thing you were going CW instead of CCW when the bracket broke. The wall is much closer to the corner at the other end of the front straight!

Locating the swaybar off of the lower control arm also reduces the load on the ball joint. It puts the load where it belongs.

That makes sense as well.

I still have 3 sets of springs in stock… price is higher than most because of my low ordering quantity and shipping.
