Speedi-sleeve for crank at front oil seal

#1

Hi Guys,

In freshening my engine I’ve found a distinct groove in the nose of my crank where the front oil seal rides.

SKF Bearings makes a thing called a Speedi-Sleeve for such situations. It’s a thin walled stainless steel cylinder that press fits over the crank and covers the groove so you don’t have an oil leak. It also permits the use of the standard oil seal.

Does anybody know the P/N for an E30 325i application?

Thanks in advance.

Either SKF 99215 or 99157

I have both numbers written down one is for the front the other for the rear, but that will get you in the ballpark.

Just an update.

Here are the Speedi-Sleeve P/Ns I found.

1987 BMW 325i Speedi-Sleeve P/Ns (should be the same for all years E30 325’s)

Crank Shaft, Front: 99189
Crank Shaft, Rear: 99354
Auxiliiary Shaft: 99147

I actually installed the 99189 Sunday and all went well. You can install it leaving the flange on. The flange OD is quite a bit smaller than the crank journal diameter it butts up to.

I used some kind of PVC 2" threaded coupler ($1.03) from Lowes to drive it on with.

Jim, thanks for the P/Ns. You may want to update your notes.
