Randall[/quote]Yep, it is called the "Rules"

Tough crowd.
I would be willing to summarize my build.
All in me head though.
Call walter at www.valleymotorwerks.com he might actually have a parts list he can send to you.
Good Luck
I whipped this up really quickly [file name=Spec_E30_Check_List.xls size=28160]http://spece30.com/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/files/Spec_E30_Check_List.xls[/file]
camber plates
Battery cut off
sunroof clips
window net
center net
removable steering wheel
video camera and roll bar mount
wink mirror
wheel studs
just a few more…
badboypolar - what do you mean in the spreadsheet by "brakes - Required upgrade even though it isn’t listed as one"? We can only change pads and do a rebuild on the stock calipers.
there are some good lists here if you search for "build cost"
cheers,
bruce
Thanks everyone for your input on this…I had looked over the rules about 4 times and highlighted optional stuff in one color and required stuff in another and wanted to make sure I had it all covered with a list…thanks esp to badboy…
mskeen: is that Harrison Motorsports that would be 5 minutes from where I work up in Alpharetta? if so, are you around Atlanta too? I’d love to get a good look at your build up or ride along to get a sense of what sort of performance to expect out of a SpecE30 car.

I recall Brain posting his build sheet on here quite a while ago. You might want to try a search.
Here is one thing that many people leave off…keep you car street legal/registered! It will save you tons of trouble and $$$. Seriously you need to be able to shake the car out after every change/part etc. Do not plan on doing it the track. Also focus on the safety stuff, we built the OE 800 car while Travis was doing schools, we added stuff as we went along. You do not have to have a strut brace to run the car. You do not have to "upgraded" rotors. You do have to have all the safety items to race. Do not get caught up with a lot of modifications, concentrate on your driving, just make sure the car is safe!

Randall, find a mentor.
What sounds so complicated is really simple. There are a handful of parts that are the best for the build. Yet, if you ask 10 people you will get 10 different answers. You will quickly gain a level of trust based on the willingness of others to help.
You are in Atlanta?
David Harrison is a good shop to deal with.
Do you need a turn-key car?
Do you need parts only?
Your mechanical aptitude?
I’ve built 3 of them.If you need advise/encouragement feel free to call.

Randall Prince! Plan on running any up here in OH/IN? I know you (used to at least) get up this way a lot. Looks like we’ll need some more competition.
I’m building now and planning on comp school at the end of this season or the beginning of next.
Next time you are up Cincinnati way, let me know.

Careful what you wish for Bill. I tried following the teachings of taximan too, and look how I turned out.

Randall:
Unlike most all other series, unless it is specifically mentioned in the Spec E30 Rules, leave it as it came from the factory. That goes for everything on the car. Plus, it makes the build easier when you know that you don’t have to develop your own parts, etc. Just bolt the allowed parts on the car and leave everything else alone.
And feel free to ask questions here. The group has heard the same questions many times but we know that this is part of the program.
'Good to have you here.
