Well, as a 4 year PCA DE guy in CT, and a former tii and 1600 owner looking at getting into W2W, you guys look pretty interesting. So I’ve read all the rules, joined NASA, went to Hyperfest, lurked on the sites til bleary eyed, and still have some questions.
I find the Spec philosophy matches my own, preventing as it does the $1000 Hoosiers per weekend prevalent in PCA, even in the stock classes. And thier school is learning how to start, not how to race. 944 Cup are good guys, but the water cooled don’t seem to have the reliability of the air cooled Porsches and 944 Spec looks like its destined to remain West Coast. Maybe PRC on Toyo’s but I can’t afford to lose my 86 Carrera. And even the SM guys are buying 4 engines and dynoing em for the best one. Besides, they sound like slightly flatulent bumblebees.
So, anyone doing Spec E30 in the Northeast? Can I join Mid Atlantic, then move over as Northeast comes up to speed? Any shops recommended (including North Jersey)? Whats the advantage, if any, in building a 325is vs a 325i? Are there any known weak spots in the M20 aside from the low OP in left turns? Thinking of attending both the 'CCA school and NASA. Anybody able to compare the two?
Thanks!
