Sparco vs. kirkey seats?

#1

I was planning on buying Kirkey alum seats, but just ran across a deal for Sparco Corsas - might cost me a little more than the Kirkeys, just curious for some input. I’ve read the threads on seats, and seems several guys are buying the sparco 2000 - what do you look for? Are the Corsa’s extra comfy or something - good for street/track combo?

If you look on IOPortRacing.com, they have Kirkey seats and harnesses less than anywhere else I can find and they happen to be 10m from where I live (bought my helmet and gloves from Doug). They have 5pt-3" Autopower harnesses for ~$160, and Kirkey Intermediate seat for $350.

Thanks,

I would recommend the Sparco’s. Remember, the seat is part of the safety equipment package. I’ve seen some interesting video with regard to how and what happens to the thin aluminum seats in the course of an accident. I would recommend test "sitting" in all the seats you are looking at before buying to make sure it’s comfortable and remember safety equipment is not the place to skimp.

Also, you may want to look at the G-Force harnesses. They have a 6-point camlock harness that is FIA rated for just over $120.

Don’t overlook Momo seats. I have a pair of Momo Cup VTR seats, which I believe are now sold as the Momo Cup GT. When I sat in various seats, the Sparco Evo 2 fit me well. So, too, do my Momo seats. They are FIA approved, and I believe they’re about $450 brand new from places like LTB Motorsports in FL (much cheaper than Sparco). I bought the set new off eBay for $500. I know it can be difficult to find seats to sit in–I sat in the Momo seat at my cage installers when he was about to mount one in a purple Camaro. Luckily, I was able to overlook the car and give them a try!

Sasha -

We bought Momo cup GT seats as well from LTB. Ask them about over-stocks. We got ours for $425 each - black and grey.

Also, regarding the harness, I would got for the 6 point rather than 5. The 2 point submarine belt is a big improvement over the single sub.

Thanks for all your advice guys. I have bought from LTB before, I will def take a look. I will plan on driving over a performance shop and sitting in a few first, fit is very important and I don’t want to assume comfort on general sizes.

don’t forget that Alum. seats need a seat back brace and that will add to the cost. Also, Kirkey’s do not include the cover in the price
