Source for diff rebuild kits

#1

I need to rebuild the diff on the blue car and can’t find where to source these now. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

When I shut down Factory 3, I turned over my suppliers and details to David Harrison, at http://www.harrisonmotorsports.com/

I believe he is sourcing the parts. The only thing that’s hard to find is the discs themselves; the seals and gaskets are easily found.

Travis, Bimmerworld or Zygmunt (ask for Chris) should have them.

Thanks guys! Ordered seals and gaskets from pelican and the discs from Bimmerworld. Around $185 to the door for a disc and seal replacement.

#5

Is there a DIY on replacing the bearings… all of them?

#6

Sorry to not have posted sooner but IMHO the 188 diff plates from Bimmerworld are very overpriced.

For future reference, what is a more acceptable price and where can they be found for that?

#8

… checking my previous sources, will report back…

I am interested, too. I haven’t had a chance to look, but my diff is covered in fluid. I think I blew the front seal towards the end of the race Sunday…

Guys, I’ll have 4 friction discs & 4 four tab plates with me at Nationals. I got them to rebuild my own diff and a spare diff but if someone needs the parts I can get more. $50 for a friction disk, $20 for 4 tab plate.

As a note to the above instructions, If I may make/suggest a correction.

Step 12:

These are actually 8mm X 1.00 socket head screws, grade 10.9. Since these are almost identical to clutch pressure plate bolts (8mmX1.25-10.9), we torque them as such at 25ft-lbs. Suggest using ‘blue’ lock-tite.

I also suggest taping the bolt holes to clean out any crap and previous lock-tite. If you plan on rebuilding your diff and need this tap, order it online ahead of time. 8mm X 1.00 is NOT a standard metric tap size and you will find yourself driving all around town in vain. Trust me, I know.
