If I didn’t understand what you asked me I am sorry. I do get literally hundreds of emails about this event. I try to keep on top of them all but since I am human …and I have a real job too…I do make a few mistakes. It is about how the mistakes are handled that speak well for our region. Matt, the chief of grid, does a great job and I am glad it all worked out.

A note to everyone:

Please actually read the confirmation email that I send, please go to the links that are included and read the instructions for each event. Please verify your drivers information on the drivers list. all the extra eyes help us catch mistakes prior to the event weekend and it is much better to fix them in advance.
Also, please log in to www.nasaproracing.com and verify all of the information in your profile as correct. Particularly your EMAIL ADDRESS. also, verify your membership expiration date and renew on time and for this coming season…remember that ALL competition licenses will EXPIRE on 12/31.2006 and will need to be renewed.

Yo, Vic, what is the story??? With Clay at 2.19 the engine has obviously found more grunt. Were you close to James in overall lap times like you were last year? And how about the Alex/ Matt Richmond story. Just thinking how much fun it would have been to have been there. But, I have an excuse, my ringer guy, Seth Thomas,was in Hawaii or something like that. The story was that James and I ran a great effin’ weekend - and I have the trophy to prove it.

I broke a rocker arm on Friday during the last session of the test and tune. Dave Pallister jumped right in, and had my timing belt off in 5 minutes - it was amazing watching him work. I’ve always considered myself a decent mechanic - but he made the distinction that he’s a PROFESSIONAL very clear…and most of the work was done while holding a beer…like I said, VERY impressive.

So after a LONG drive to Raleigh for parts, and a long night of knuckle busting, we got the car back together and running.

Sunday was lots of fun. I ran the fastest time of the weekend of any non-pro: 2:20.2. James busted out the new track record with a blistering 2:19 flat. The man was on his game! Matt ran a 2:20 flat in Alex’s car. Once again - the distinction between amateur and pro was very evident. Alex and Matt were really hurt by slow pit stops - otherwise they would have been right at the front.

As far as the weight DQ - I’d rather not rant in public, and I wish I could say that it didn’t bother me. We ran one HELL of a race and when James finished the race, he weighed about 2770 (with my car). Make no mistake - the playing field was even. I’ll stop there.

Thanks again to Dave Pallister and DP Motorworks for helping me get the engine back together. You rock Dave!!

Wish you were there Robert - we needed a good dose of "I’ll tell you what, I’ll tell you what, I’ll tell you what!"

I’m not sure why all the hurt feelings over the Enduro results…We all knew the rules going into it. Last year at CMP when I finished 2nd…I didn’t complain when post race I came in 4 lbs underweight. In fact, I actually let race officials know to DQ my results out of a sense of sportsmanship and fairness to the other competitors.

No prize money, no big $$ contracts, just the fun. Squabbling over results is poor form no matter how articulate the argument.

Vic, thanks for the update. I’ll tell you what, I’ll tell you what…it musta been that DP Motorworks wrenchin’ that made your car so fast. After all, that’s the only thing that changed from last year’s lap times in the 2.50s, right? Have fun and great race… Regards, Robert

Yea it got a bit confusing…Dave and I drove my car #105 and Dave also Co-drove his car #67 with a client (Dave Cullpepper).

the 67 car was driven for exposure and not designed to be competative

the 105 car was not quite as fast as the front runners, but some good pitstops and carefull weight management kept us fairly close.

The answer is Yes. In the enduro supplement to the rules state that competitors must subtract 180 lbs from class weight (2750) and weigh the car without a driver…thus the 2570 lbs max wt. at the end of the enduro for E30’s.

Thank you for the info. I am guessing that you mean "min weight" not max for the 2570, but I get it.

Right…but average James Clay’s weight (it’s all height and bulk, not fat) and your’s and Mike’s together, and it’s probably close to 180 lbs. :slight_smile:

And regarding the DQ’s for being underweight, we all knew what the minimum was (several of us discussed it on Friday, including those affected) and our team calculated the weight and fuel, and ran our race accordingly. We were 11 lbs. over minimum at impound.

No doubt, Vic and James drove very well on the track but I’m sure they are not surprised by the results. No one gets any pleasure out of seeing a "DQ" by a competitor’s name but being properly prepared and racing by the published rules, is part of NASA endurance racing.

Wanted to chime in here. What a fun enduro on Sunday! Tanks to Vic for letting me drive his car. I am going to take another crack at that track record in a non-enduro environment when we can get the car about 20 pounds lighter yet! Oddly enough, it seems to handle best with close to a full tank of fuel with more rear weight.

The competition was great. There were no powerhouse cars and the first stint with Vic in the car with 4 others so tightly around is what spec racing is all about!
