Sensor in Driver Brake Air Duct, Do I need it???

#1

I have an 89 325is. I was installing brake ducts direct to the rotors. As I was pulling the stock brake duct tube and the drivers side has a sensor in it. It was located directly in the air stream.

Anyone know what it’s for or if it’s important to the car running correctly? I added a few picture so you know what I am talking about.

If it’s important I will modify my new brake ducts and reinstall it. If it’s not important I will just tie it up under the car someplace.

Thanks
Jason

Another shot.

The sensor

It is the external temp sensor for the OBC.

So, unless you concerned about being able to check ambient temps via OBC, no, you do not need it.

I had a feeling that what it could be but was not sure. Since my car no longer has the OBC its no big deal its home is gone for real air ducts.

Thanks,
Jason
