will e36 seats fit in an e30? As in bolt in?

I think that the dimensions of the mounting holes is different. I seem to remember the fore/aft dimension on an E36/46 is something like 14". On an E30 it is very close to 12-1/4". That, of course assumes we are talking about stock seats. Most race seats could be adapted to fit with a different mounting base.

People have definitely made this work in the past. Im not positive on the most popular way to do it but it seems a simple adapter plate drilled and tapped to mount the seat to and then mount the plate to the floor using stock E30 mounting locations would work.

Thanks guys I thought I had heard of people doing this before but I wasn’t sure i’m gonna have to look into it once i get an e30 for the street. I’ll probably just try and make some brackets at work or get someone a little more knowledgable at work to help me. (RG Engineering)
