Scan tool?

Is a scan tool worth it on these cars? Mine is throwing a CEL and the car is too old to support the stomp check. I’m trying to figure out if the Peake Research R5/FCX-3 is worth the investment.

My '87 does a stomp test, how old can yours be? If you’ve a 173 DME, I figure that it ought to do be willing to give you stomp test codes. I don’t know about the earlier 15? DME.

Only 173 and up DME’s will support the stomp test.

i’d upgrade to a 173 ecu. A scan tool is usually worth it. much easier to read codes. keep one in your toolbox.
