Save some room at VIR

#1

Guys:

I won’t be there until Friday morning. Therefore, we need someone to save some paddock space for us Thursday afternoon.

  1. Buy some yellow Police Line tape and about 20 small wood stakes.
  2. Find a spot (consult the NASA Paddock map but it’s not required that we use that area) that is half of one "Square" and half of another, across a paddock road. That is, we want a paddock road to divide the Spec E30 paddock area. As Carlton suggested, we can communicate much better within the group if we’re "back-to-back" with a road in the middle. We need room for 13 cars in one area and 13 cars across the road.
  3. Drive the wood stakes into the gravel in each area and run the tape between them. Tape "Spec E30" paper signs on the tape, about every 15 feet.
  4. In each space, leave one area with a 20-foot long "gate" that can be easily moved without affecting the entire taped area. All the tape will be removed once everyone is in the two areas.
  5. We will pass the hat to pay you back for the supplies.

Thanks!

Carter

Are you talking about something like this?

I plan to get to the track right at 5:30 on Thursday so I’ll try to rope the section off.
I just want to be sure I get the right spot.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Just so you all know, this event will be HUGE…including the duplicates of Open track and Test/tune, and enduro there are over 500 entries. This does not count the Circuit cross Jon Felton is running at the patriot course( not paddocked with us). The only group larger than Spec E30 is SM by about 3 cars…

does this mean hording spaces may cause a riot?

I don’t want to be pissing other drivers off.

I’ll be happy to do this but if you think this task should be taken on by a non-noobie… I’ll just be there to help.

It’s okay, they’ve all got to stop for an engine rebuild SOMEtime…

I talked to Steven Canterbury and he is getting to VIR Thursday when the gates open. He said he would be willing to help rope off the Spec E30 area. Scott, you might want to get with Steven so you guys can work together and fight off all of the other racers.

I’ll be up there Thursday night at about 5:30 as well. I will be glad to help corral.

Scott and/or Mike, Do either of you have or plan on bringing any kind of tape to rope the area off? If not, I’ll run out this eveing and pick some up. I’ll also print out some SpecE30 signs to attach to the tape.

Thanks guys!

And we are not hording space when NASA has designated that space for us. If anyone tries to give you a hard time, show them the paddock map.

But…we can move farther (further?) out if it’s easier to get more space.

we taped off some space on both sides of the road. It is the space that the paddock map designated.
