Savannah, GA. Highest density of SpecE30s in world

#1

A guy showed up at our Roebling event and said “My name’s Jeff and I’m thinking about racing”.

48hrs later. Jeff emails a link and asks “Hey what do you think about this SpecE30?”

48hrs later. “I’m going to roadtrip across the country and check out that car.”

48hrs later. “I bought the car and am heading home.”

That’s 4.5 SpecE30 racers in Savannah, GA…Me, Rich, Al and now Jeff as soon as we can get him to comp school. The 0.5 is for Ludo who bought a car and trailer, but then got distracted by work so didn’t make it to comp school. He’s heading for TX in the Fall so will help fill out their ranks.

In a complete coincidence, Jeff and Rich know each other from their radio controlled car racing days 15yrs ago.

I’ll try to get Jeff into this thread so he can introduce himself.

I spoke to Jeff for a bit as well. Seemed like a pretty good guy. That was fast from “I am thinking about Spec E30” to being all in! Looking forward to racing with you Jeff!

That’s me, allin!

I’d been contemplating it for a while, meeting everyone and seeing the racing and turnouts at the various tracks made it a done deal. I was also very happy with what appeared to be a great car available. I did some checking around and everything fell into place perfectly. I even got the post inspection from Rich so all I need to be able to do is get all the NASA stuff done and get my comp license mid June at Road Atlanta and I’m going to show you guys how to look good at the back of the grid.

if he’s still got the website up you can see the car here. Big thanks to Mason for the car and trailer and all the help!

That is a beautiful build :woohoo: congrats man. Great to see SE30’s looking better every year

In the same topic, I just got another buddy of mine in, he just bought a half build car, he’s been running SE36 with CCA for a couple of years and just got bored with the lack of competition. Bad news/Good news is, he’s really freaking fast, his name is Rob Eskew, hopefully he’ll have his car ready this summer.

Very sad to see the car leave our region. Haven’t seen a nicer prepped car.

Thank you and I hope to see you at an event soon!

If anyone else is looking for a spec e30 car there is a very well prepared car here in Augusta for around 12k. Its Ex-grassroots motorpsport car but fully gone through with a fresh .20 over motor.

Well, I had my first outing. Going back tomorrow for day two. I have plenty to fix and improve, but the car was great. I still have to get a halo seat and from the vid you will notice the side net is too low, but all fixable. I also need to figure out the RacePak dash, so for this weekend I just used my phone app for Gopro sync and lap times. Be easy on me…

I bought the trackvision.net software to overlay the iq3 data. I guess racepak was going to make a cable to work with the gopro but I’m not sure if that ever happened. I did the syncing manually. I had some ideas about using the external programmable warning light to indicate when it started recording or passed start/finish but now I’ve sold the IQ3.
