RPM signal recommendation for Traqmate?

#1

Does anybody have a recommended wire to piggyback onto to hookup a Traqmate Tach signal?

Thanks,
Erik

I’m pretty sure my TM rpm input comes from the coil. If you have an input module that can take a 12V signal then that’s the easy way to do it.

If you have a module that can only take a 5V signal, and I’m not sure that this is made any more, then I don’t know how you’d do it.

Pick the rpm signal off the wire that supplies the rpm signal to the cluster. That is a clean 0-5 square wave. It is possible, via an accessory module, to use the ground side of the coil.

which wire going to the cluster jim?

I got RPM signal off the ECU harness. It’s one of the single wires coming out of the main trunk in the glovebox. My car is an '87.

Mine was plug and play to the coil

On my *173 Motronic, pin out #6 is Engine Speed output. Wire is Black 20AWG.

Confirm with the appropriate ETM.
