Rookie of the Year

Ok. So, how is this determined? There are a few of us that are close this year, but I don’t know if they are considered rookies (raced in other series, etc). I know it’s trivial to most of you, but kind of neat to the actual rookie…

I was '08 MA rookie of the year and I can tell you that in the MA there’s a vote among a lot of the NASA officials at the end of the season. They look at a lot of different things. On track performance is most important but they look at the strength of the class you’re racing in, how involved you are in nasa, how loyal you are to your region, etc. You pretty much have to go to every race to be considered. I never got a trophy for mine because apparently the vote was so close that they didn’t decide who to give it to until after the trophies had already been engraved. It’s a cool award that I appreciate very much, but it’s nothing compared to winning a race :).

Thats just the MA. Not sure if it’s the same in the SE…

in the SE it is the guy that brings the most quality booze to the track, not sure who is leading this year.

That’s complete bullshit.

They told me that last year when I was a rookie. So I bought first class hooch to every event. Then in December they say “You were supposed to bring chicks too”. Like WTF is with that? They didn’t tell me squat about having to bring chicks too.

I was so pissed I decided to drive everyone batshit crazy all year.

And that’s working out ok so far.

I thought we had agreed that the rookie of the year prospects had to win a knife fight with Jones at the Dec. race first?

After seeing some of the posts from the MA, I’m not sure I want to know what the ‘winnning’ candidate had to do up there…

Ok. I’m in good spot then. I’ve bought drinks and beer, brought a girl to the track and had some decent runs out there today.

On the Jones matter though - can he be sober for this fight? I hear he’s unstoppable drunk…

Not knife fight. Sword fight.

it’s politics as usual. you have to give a lot of b… backrubs. :stuck_out_tongue:

I was under the impression that it was determined by a potato sack race in the paddock at the last event of the year. I’ve been practicing and everything.

#10

We should just have a Vodka drinking competition…last one standing is rookie of the year…I’ve already started practicing.

#11

Methinks you have an unfair advantage in that department! Its in the blood!

Can I drink Irish whiskey? Vodka is for the females but if Alex wants I’ll bring the cranberry juice B)

I have no idea what you’re talking about!

Greg,

Fair enough. We’ll call it drink what you want of equal alcohol content.

And yes, please do bring the cranberry juice.

That sack race has nothing to do with potatoes, you misunderstood.
