Roebling hit by a tornado Saturday

Place got torn up pretty well I guess. Tower got damaged, among other things.

It wasn’t my fault. I wasn’t even there. It was a tornado for christ’s sake.

Are you serious? That sucks.

Maybe they will finally get around to some much needed track maintenance! and make some improvements.

Here is what showed up on a google search:

"Just wanted you to be informed about the tornado at Roebling Thursday. There were no injuries, the damages are as follows:
Part of roof on tower off
Stand across form tower ripped out of ground and destroyed
Tree down in front of Kaye & Richard’s house
Many many trees damaged by wind & lifgtning
Turn 5 workstation is upside down & ruined
Potalets overturned all over
Trash cans everywhere blown by winds
Several sections of fence crushed by limbs & portalets
P.A. & base station gone beyond repair
There is more, i just don’t remember at this time, but it was a mess. Kaye & Richard set about getting things cleaned up and repaired. By Friday noon, they had a lot of the mess cleaned up or it was being done. The tree trimmers had a full day’s work gettind rid of broken limbs.
Just found out tower structure was damaged, may have to replace it. "

I’ll be there in 2 weeks. We’ll see if the place gets up and running by then.

Sorry to hear that, the place is always fun to race at.

Are you sure? Did it go behind the tower? Is there still a lane to drive thru behind the tower?!?! :silly:

The tornado did indeed go behind the tower. But, interestingly, it came to a complete stop.

A witness reported that the tornado then moved behind the tower at 9mph and went over to a corner station in a sulking mood and turned it over destroying it. (howling something about ‘not fair…’)

There are some pretty sketchy dwellings in the area, hopefully no one got hurt…

Yeah, I think there is a high correlation between density of mobile homes and tornado occurrences.

What does a [insert favorite rural county here] divorce and a tornado have in common?

Someone’s losing a trailer…

LMAO. Roger that. Don’t F with a force of nature.

Anyone think a work party outreach would be worth the effort?

#13

That description of RA after the tornado sounded like the Sunday morning mess on a typical NASA SE weekend. Right Travis?

I’ll drive the 6 hours to help clean up if it will help Jim in booking the '09 dates.

If you do, remember to book a hotel room.
