rocker arms: new Febi vs. old BMW?

#1

Hey all,

I’m preparing to build up a new motor and i’m debating between using my existing 270k mile original BMW rocker arms or getting new Febi rock arms.

My understanding is that the new Febi ones are of lesser quality than the originals… but worse than 270k mile BMW ones? I’m under the impression there isnt a good solution…

Any suggestions?

I’m curious about this as well, being that rocker arm failure is not as much of a problem w/ stock cams, a broker rocker arm is still a bitch esp if you have to change one on site. with the following rule:

9.3.1.2.6. Rocker arms may be replaced (3.5).

Am I to interpret that its ok to swap in billet rocker arms? Granted they are expensive but for the piece of mind I was considering the investment as I build my car. as long as they pass tech

I haven’t had any problems with any of the Febi rockers that I’ve sold but I do note they seem to have a lot of casting flash on them, that I don’t like. Honestly, the Original BMW parts are not much more to simply buy new ones. NA Retail is $27.95/ea and many of us vendors can sell Original parts at 20% which is typically better than what you’ll get from a dealer on your own.

Cheers.
