Road Atlanta - June 18-20

#21

Evan, I just registered, stop bumping your gums together and come show me how it’s done.

#22

With your car luck, are you sure it is wise to run the enduro as well? Or will this be in another car?

#23

My car luck has been getting better and better. I’m not scared of the enduro. I bring cars to drive. If they die, they die, but I’m not going to let it sit on the trailer if there is a race to be won. I’ll even take bets that the car not only finishes, but a podium finish in class.

Any takers?

#24

I’ll be there for the DE. Unfortunately it will be in my half finished se30 project, since my new copper head gasket for the turbo car was an epic fail.

#25

That, ladies and gentleman, is a SpecE30 with a rear bumper. Fred’s rear bumper. See you at RA.

#26

The lift and the car look great. How did you pull out the metal that the bumper shock attaches to?

#27

I didn’t pull anything. I was concerned that if I tried a relatively uncontrolled “pull”, something bad might happen. So I cut away most of the last 12" of frame channel and bent/banged what remained into submission. Then I welded the torn sheetmetal and fabricated 3 pieces of steel that formed a new frame channel and bumper shock support.

Of course it only sounds as if it went like clock-work when it’s summarized in the past tense.

#28

I like the lift…but you need some 18v tools so you do not have all those cords laying everywhere…those 18V flashlights really help also…

Al

#29

+1
Al where is a good place to source those 18v tools?

#30

Scott I love the new lift!!

I’m on the fence money wise with this one, but if all goes well I might be able to make my glorious Spec E30 return. Guaranteed to beat Ranger and the new guy from FL (who apparently can’t hold his boozeB))in the process. If not see you guys in Aug.

PS one of you should buy this:

It will make you manly and 3 seconds faster:woohoo:

#32

“cant handle his booze” - come on. It’s not that I “can’t handle” it. It’s just that, as Evan said, I become a dousche when I do. But then again, I have been accused of that sober, so I’m not totally sure what exactly is being said.

You guarantee you can beat me? You better be strong like Joe Namath and the Jets with a guarantee like that, but unlike Broadway Joe, you bring your ride out to Road Atlanta and you will finish behind me.

And then I’ll take to drinking…

:cheer:

I’d be in shock and willing to admit that “pigs can fly” if I finished that high. Or to state it another way, That will happen when it can be reliably determined that a certain neither region has reached temperatures that have rendered di-hydrogen oxide a solid.

#35

I’m in. Might even do the enduro. McKay, I noticed you beat my track record at Homestead. Revenge will be mine.

#36

I don’t own the Homestead track record, as the time has to come in a race, and mine came in a qualifier. Natalie Black holds the Homestead track record. I have Palm Beach International Raceway and Sebring. I’d say I was coming to attack the Road Atlanta record, but I’m not bringing enough game to make that happen.

But I am bringing a lot of game.

June @ RA means RA won’t be giving out any track records!!! I would guess pole will be a couple seconds off the Spec E30 track record, you will most likely be a couple seconds behind that B)

#38

I’ll venture that the track record at RA will never (until the next repave?) be bettered.
New track surface, cold temps, excellent driver (Skeen), good draft=not to be.

Don’t care who you are…

Pole: 146.85
Race: 147.69

You’ve actually got to show up with your car at Homestead for that to happen.

If I finish middle of the pack and fun sub 1:50 then I will be happy. Those are my lofty goals for my first race.
