Requirements for racing with BMWCCA CR

#21

actually, they’ve been allowing IT cars fully compliant with SCCA IT rules for some time and I remember asking Mike if they really meant to exclude them from the fire system and right side net rules last year and the answer was yes.

I’m also surprised that BMWCCA isn’t requiring meet/exceed their safety standards. This whole “foreign class” inclusion business is new and may get some tweaking over time.[/quote]

Are we required to get a BMWCCA logbook? It is in the rules, but no mention in the announcement. I’m assuming yes for now, and will have my annual done for both just in case.

I think that you just need your NASA logbook w/ an Annual and at least 1 race in it. That will be the “proof” that your car meets the SpecE30 class rules.

You go ahead and do whatever you like. But I’d wager that come Feb and Mar you’ll have the most watched shiftpoints in the American SE. Don’t short-shift, or some malcontent will be demanding a tear-down. Where’s Vic?

You must have an organization log book for each organization. With BMW, I had to declare in my BMW log book that I was running under ITA rules, that’s all.

Oh, and by the way, a 4.1 is nice, but for the Southeast, a 4.27 is the gear. Chuck

I think that the new BMWCCA rules require that “foreign class” cars show up with their “foriegn” log book. But I’ve not seen a reference to the foreign class requiring a BMWCCA log book.

Remember that this foreign class stuff is new, at least on a national level. So what happened last year might not be the rule for this year. And what happens in one region might not be the same as what happens in another. Especially with the misunderstandings and ambiguities that are likely with new rules.

Re. diff ratios. Just for clarity, if you run with BMWCCA as a “foreign” SpecE30 class, then you do have to run our required 3.73. If one of us wanted to run with something else, like a 4.27 they’d have to run as KP.

BMWCCA Rules clarification contains the details re. running with BMWCCA. No real surprises, although it does confirm that the CR decal set is required.
