replacing guibo

#1

I need to replace my flex disk in my 89 325i
realoem.com tells me that my guibo/flex disk looks like this:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=1113&mospid=47309&btnr=26_0122&hg=26&fg=10

am I correct in assuming that it is part 2 that I need to order.
Is part 3 the part that we can leave off if desired? (vibration damper). The mechanic that checked my car over said that it is currently mounted backwards!

Are there any other "while I’m in there" maintenance replacements in that area?

thanks,
bruce

I think I remember that #3 doesn’t just "come off" - I had to remove the 30mm nut from the transmission, and cut it off. It was pressed onto the output shaft from the tranny with 3 studs that I couldn’t break free.

This was on Alex’s "e" to "i" convert, so your may be different.

I have cursed that damn #3 piece many times!

Good luck.

it might be a good idea to do the center bearing at the same time. there are 2 different flex discs for E30’s make sure you get the right one

re the center bearing, in this picture http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=1113&mospid=47309&btnr=26_0122&hg=26&fg=10
is it part 9 that you replace, and only replace part 10 if the rubber has degraded?
thanks,
bruce
