The rules seem to be written with the 2-door cars in mind, seeing as it only mentions driver and passenger windows. It is also permissible to remove the rear window glass and lowering mechanisms?
Removing window glass
usually it’s only necesary to remove the glass for a door bar. The rear doors will not have this bar, so I would think it unecesary. Most 4door race cars I’ve seen have rear glass still installed.
In other words, you’re going to have to leave the glass in.

I’ll have to look at the Rules on this but remember, (and this is a general statement to everyone) don’t ever, ever, ever, ever (is that enough evers?) remove or change something unless it is specifically mentioned in the Rules.
We’ll get back to you on the rear door glass on four door cars.

Uh oh, get on it Carter! While the rules may have been written thinking of FRONT door glass I can’t recall even one rear seat driver thus all other glass is for passengers. Oh wait, there was Ah-nold in Commando when he de-seated Rae Dawn Chung’s seat. Were you thinking of this? ; ) har har har…thanks, I’ll be here til Thursday.
Well it’s kind of a moot point for me since I realized that, even if I can remove the rear glass I can’t replace it with anything. And since I don’t have an enclosed trailer, that seems like a poor plan.
did a clarification on the rear glass get issued? The rules do state you can remove the passenger window glass, but doesn’t specify the "front" passenger window specifically.
Is there a running list of clarifications kept anywhere?
thanks,
bruce

actually, after re-reading the rules, it is pretty specific that this is only allowed if needed for nascar door bars so I’m betting the clarification will be that you can only remove glass if there are functional nascar bars (i.e. no need for those in the rear).
Is there an annual rules process or are they reviewed on an as-needed basis?
thanks,
bruce
arguing with myself here …
the issue is that section 7.4.3 says only remove window glass if nascar bars are needed, but then section 9.3.13.21 says you can remove the glass/mechanisms without restrictions.
similar opportunity for cleanup in section 7.8.1 - says only driver’s side carpet can be removed, but then 9.3.13.21 says all carpeting.
thanks,
bruce
