removing power steering pump

#1

Does anyone know the size plug needed to block off the hole in the steering rack where the lines attach?

Thanks

M14 and M16, 1.5 thread pitch “pipe plug”. Hard to find locally, best bet is online.

Here’s an old link from e30tech… http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14489&highlight=plug&page=9

I got my plugs at the local Advance. I had to grind down the larger one a bit. Found them on the rack with all the other drain plugs and washers.

I found these plugs at a local Ace Hardware. They were in there hardware section under “automotive plugs”.

Instead of plugging, you can use an adapter to join the 2 ports with the original banjo bolts: http://r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=130389
There’s also a link in that thread with measurements to make your own, if you so desire.

I used the adapter. It worked fine, and I was glad to support an E30 guy.

I just connect both hoses from the reservoir to the rack. That provides room for expansion of the fluid in the rack and a means of keeping fluid in the rack and has as a bonus no need for additional parts or modifications.
