Refreshening Proceedure for M20 Engine

#1

What is the best way to refresh the M20 to get the power back up close to stock>?? My engine has around 200k on it. Im thinking timing belt, water pump, plugs, cap and rotor, wires (depending on how the OHM out), clean up the hfm and adjust (not real clear on the procedure for this). Should I pull the head to clean the combustion chambers and Lap the valves??? anything else I should pay attention to while im at it?? Any other wear parts I should replace?

Thanks,
Erick

I would think that a compression and leakdown tests would tell you a lot about what your engine needs. First I would have the car dyno’d and see if it is down on power. Most of the SE30 cars that have been dyno’d recently average around 150-155hp and similar torque.

If I can find an economical dyno solution I will do this, At present the only one I could find is about $130/hr with hr minimum. I will compression test but no leak down tester. What does a leak down test determine exactly, and is there a place to rent a tester?
