Rear strut braces and shock tower reinforcement

#1

It seems to me that the two things are redundant. I’m assuming that if I go with a rear tower brace, I don’t need the tower reinforcement plates, or do I?

Also, are the Ireland Engineering rear camber/toe correction kits legal? I saw they require welding to the factory assemblies for installation and I didn’t know if that made them illegal.

Ireland correction kit is not within the rules.

Rear tower brace serves a different function than tower reinforcement plates (Z3 plates). The plates protect the top of the strut tower from ripping through. The bar is to increase the rigidity of the car by tying the towers together. I have never seen a need for the bar - don’t know if it is legal or not (I know welded ones are not). The reinforcements are legal.

AKG has RTB that can help with camber in the rear. And is legal (at time of posting).

I think K-Mac has something we can use too?

I suggest you check with factory3performance.com and/or Carr Industries to see if they have anything to offer. It’s good to support those who support us.

The rear brace does offer some protection… the reinforcement plates may be better. I’ve produced and sold these bars. I have both on my car.

9.3.8.10 would imply that a bolt-in rear shock tower brace is legal. I doubt that it is necessary, but by my reading of the rules you could use one.

9.3.8.10. Any bolt-in strut or shock tower brace is permitted, unless specified in these regulations.

Jim is correct. It is legal.
