i’ll be there (crewing, not racing). what’s your team name? is there a master entry list that is publicly viewable?

#3

Good luck Al. I’ll be there spectating and then the next two days driving with Chin Motorsports.

done the race the last 4 years, not this year however. make sure you have the car up to scca standards, they can be a pita with little stuff like fuel test ports. and for gods sake make sure you cover your nasa decals!!!

Scuderia Gonzo Alonzo, running the GTS1 e30 with an e motor…I think it is listed as ITA but most likely will be ITE, as the cage is xtensive.

I will be there with the OPM boys in the #20 ITA Integra. I was really hoping for another Acura-on-Acura rematch with Andrew, but I guess it is not to be.

There are 59 cars registered. The largest class is SM with 19 cars. Add the ITA Miatas, SSM Miatas, and STU MX-5 Cup cars and 32 cars on the grid are cute little Mazda girly cars.

It looks like Jason Marks et al are there to go for the repeat win in a BMW (E36 IIRC).

My goal for this year is to stay off the curbs better so our FWD rocket doesn’t eat any axles. Taking off race-hot calipers sucks.

Al - Be careful with pit/refueling rules. They are sticklers.

pretty much everything steve said…do your best to avoid the (spec) miatas…i’ve seen some of them going at it like it’s the last lap of the runoffs mid way through the race…

a no-curb rule should be in place for every driver in races this long…

see you guys up there!

Congrats to Dave and the Bimmerworld crew for another overall victory. Three in a row in a 13 hour race is a testament to the car AND drivers!!

Skeen had the best sounding car out there (CTS-V) and the team started on pole, but had some issues. At least the fuel tank didn’t melt like last year.

Jeremy Lucas and the Honda boys had a sweet sounding Acura that was fassssst! Can we legalize air jacks for SE30? They are frickin cool.

Rev Al again scored first on laps-per-dollar-spent!

We had 2 axle failures in the first hour. We were down 17-18 laps to the leaders at that point. 12 more hours of trouble free driving and we got back to 2nd place. It damn sure felt like a victory!! Hopefully things turn around for me and I can pay for the bulletproof drag ricer axles for the Integra next year!!!

Good to see Tower and meet Will!

This was my very first SCCA race…one of the rules was that you have to run “Illumaboards” they light your car # up and are pretty neat looking. The problem is they are only available from one source. We spent most of our practice/qually time trying to get the things to work. Luckily a rep was there…took 3 control units and 2 sets of boards, the stewards would not let you practice without them. We had a bent brake pad that we thought was causing a vibration, turned out to be a bad bearing, if we had been able to practice I could have sorted it out. Anyway, it cost us 20 laps at the beginning, we worked our way up after that, having a team of drivers in their 60’s presented some challenges…the only other issue was one driver ran out of fuel at the end of pit road which cost us some laps. A fun race, very competitive field, something like 49 cars still running at the end, no full course cautions, few if any black flags. I will be back.

Al

how do you bend a brake pad?

#12

Good question. I had ordered a full set of Porterfield R4-E’s for the race, they got shipped to the wrong place, so for practice and qually I put on a set of crusty HT10’s…one end of a front pad was bent when we checked them Friday night, I put the HT10’s off my spec car on and did not have any more issue’s. We qualified on those ***'s you ran at the VIR MA school…still have some life in em.

thanks! we certainly didnt have the fastest car there (i started the race and got lapped by the porsche during my stint) but a consistent driver lineup, a reliable and easy to drive car, fuel mileage, and solid pit work gave us the win…

I thought you were talking about the end of the race, yes, we got towed from the end of pit road…embarrasing…
