Friday. There will be a Friday “Fun Race” in the late afternoon. Cost is $99. It’s looking like there’s going to be a number of SpecE30’s in it. I think I have a couple vacation days from work that are going to go away if unused so I might take Friday off and do the fun race.
Saturday lunch. Someone is serving BBQ in the pavillion. All proceeds go to charity.
Saturday night banquet. The normal Sat night fest isn’t free at the Dec event because it’s an especially big-time affair. For the newbies, this is the standard MO for the last event of the year. There will be a bigger than normal awards ceremony. Altho space heaters get set up, the event can be chilly.
In addition to the awards for the Sat race, and the 2014 points awards, SpecE30 will have awards from Gino’s Garage and UUC.
Sunday. Normal, last day of the season, fun race. The format isn’t published yet. Some years they combined Lightning and Thunder which made for a really fun exercise in traffic management. Inevitably a lot of other classes have reduced headcount in the Sunday race, but historically we’ve had nearly our whole field in the race except for the one year that it was raining hard. Don’t be tempted to leave Sunday morning, stay for the fun.
Recall that the VIR event was their last race of the season. They did 2x 30min races and a combined fun race on Sunday. It was really fun. If you like that idea, go to the NASA-SE facebook page and talk it up.
