RA 18deg this weekend. Ideas?

Caught me a little by surprise. Prefer not to swap out coolant. Anyone have an idea more clever then a sterno log under the oil pan? Probably not enough time to mailorder something, so I’d need to find something local.

Are you going to be at the track?

I keep a little space heater under the car in the garage even though I’m running about 30% coolant right now. Usually the first couple of events of the year they let us run coolant.

Are you taking the car in an enclosed trailer? If so, take a space heater and plug it in to one of the power poles and park inside the trailer at night. Whatever you decide, RA is not a track I would risk using antifreeze. Too many hazards for your fellow competitors should some of it find its way on the track.

When we were there in August (180°) there were some many oil slicks I thought I was going to see the Exxon Valdese run aground in turn 7

Will be at RA Sat-Sun. My trailer is not enclosed. At Roebling on Friday and it is supposed to be 20deg warmer. Forgot that it gets a lot colder inland. Figure I’ll leave the car at the track with street tires on it and bring the Toyo’s to the motel room. Not sure what I ought to do about some small heat source for the motor. Anyone know if power hookups are available at RA?

They have power hook ups.

As a last resort, you can always drain the water at night.

I did some reading and it looks like a 10% solution of anti-freeze will do the job. I’ll go get some “heating pad” sort of thing at Walmart and I figure that if I can’t easily get power, I’ll just put in a little anti-freeze. Shouldn’t be a big deal. No way RA would want folks lighting fires under cars at night.
