Well, I just weighed my car for the first time and I was near 2765 almost empty on gas. I would like to strip a little more weight out of it, as I won’t be running with no fuel…Can I remove the fog lights and replace with plastic panels (One less piece of glass to tape)? How about removing the horns also, as they don’t work anyways…I have removed the AC and lines, and the washer fluid bottle…I would like to remove weight towards the front of the car, as my front to rear weights are pretty off…Any suggestions?
Questions on what I can remove...
Have you removed the window glass? Got the correct exhaust (weight may play out here depending on your current setup)? Power steering pump? What wheels are you using? [Edit: Is that with you in the car?]
Are we allowed to remove the windshield washer fluid tank? I thought we were only allowed to “modify” it. Maybe we can modify it such that only a shard of it still exists?
Scott, this is actually mentioned in the rules.
9.3.13.21. Windshield washer fluid reservoirs may (3.1) be modified (3.6).
And, flipping to 3.6, it says
3.6. “Modified” means that the item may (3.1) be replaced, machined, welded, or removed.
FWIW: Elephant has the Fog light blanks

and Chuck at Factory 3 has a great brake duct cooling kit

As for the washer bottle… some people are using as their coolant overflow tank

Thanks Chuck. As usual.
just a BTW Chuck, you’re not quoting from the 2008 rules (2008 rules don’t have the 3.1 and 3.6 notations in them)
That doesn’t change the point you’re making.
