Question for you guys about an E36 convertible

#1

My ex is wanting to look at a 1997 E36 convertible. Through some intrepid search skills, I think she’s talking about the car at the link.

Can you guys give any feedback about these cars? Price reasonable? Anything to look out for?

Some irony is that my ex and her new husband used to have a 1986 or 1987 E30 4 door, 5 speed, 325…and they sold it. She had offered it to me for $600, and at the time, I thought “What on earth would I need a 20 year old car for?”. I hadn’t caught the fever yet, obviously.

The price is good as long as the car has records. The automatic trans in later E36’s/early E46’s can be questionable – especially if it’s original at 180,000 miles.

The sport seats are a nice option. If it’s local, I’d do a PPI at a reputable shop as long as it has records. If they have no records/receipts and non-matching VIN’s, I’d run the other way.
