Okay, I have an odd question for those of you who are racing in BOTH CCA & SpecE30… how do you handle the different number door panels & different car numbers between the two series?
Did you actually manage to get a number that was available in both series or are you switching things out from event to event (which sounds like a PITA and could get pricey after a while)? I have to believe that magnets are a no-no. And what happens if you go to a different NASA or CCA region where someone else has laid claim to the same number?
Can you tell we’re getting down to the final details on the car prep? :cheer:
Thanks!
Natalie
Question for those racing in CCA AND SpecE30...
There are procedures in BMW CCA and NASA to request car numbers. In CCA it’s right on the racer self-service page (add/change cars, transponder numbers, etc.) I think NASA has something similar. (Probably email the registrar for your region and just ask)
Do your homework up front and find a # that is free in both. I don’t do a lot of CCA racing, but I do use the CCA number boards. (NASA doesn’t have a problem with CCA number boards). I think they are happy if they are legible, whatever they are!
Often times you can simply add a tape "1" in front of or behind your permamnent number as far as the corner workers are concerned.
I agree with Chuck’s advice regarding the transponder. Let e know what the FL region reistrar says.
Natalie, if you are close to Roebling Road, there is a BMWCCA race there on Dec 8,9. Chuck Taylor, Jim Pantas (NASA SE guy in charge) and I will be there to race. Come join us and we’ll be happy to answer your questions about racing and such.

Don-
Here’s what I found out… just got a nice letter back from Barbara Nix of the FL region. (Everyone I’ve contacted in NASA so far has been really pleasant and responsive!) If you read this the way I do, there are no permanently assigned numbers in the FL region…
"Hi Natalie,
…we’d certainly welcome your involvement in the NASA FL racing in Spec E-30 class. It would be great to get that series started in NASA FL in 2008…
At this time, NASA FL race car number requests are issued first come, first serve in the order registrations are received in advance of each event. To avoid potential conflicts with other racers wanting the same number, we’d suggest that you pick a unique 3 digit number and register at least 2 weeks in advance of event event."
So there we go… I guess I need to find an unused CCA number and hope like hell no one in FL is using it…

Sounds like fun… we’re very close to having the car back on the track - it’s due back from the body shop any day now and we’ll be able to get all the safety gear into the car. Can I get an AMEN my brothers and sisters!!!:woohoo:
We’re planning at this point to have the car ready to roll for Winterfest (how could we not-it’s only 2 hours from our place!) and see where we go from there… Due to the theft of the car and our move we haven’t been on the track since July 06 - the withdrawal symptoms are getting INTENSE!
I’m sure we’ll show up at a SE event soon enough and pester the heck out of everyone…
Thanks,
Natalie
