Putnam October 2010

#21

Congrats to Anthony for qualifying on the pole and taking 1st in both races! It was great meeting and racing with all you guys in the Midwest/Great Lakes gang. I’ll see you all next year and hopefully with a bit more power!

I just watched the race #2 video. I should have made Anthony work a bit harder for the pass in turn 8; I will next time…

Video uploads to follow…

Congrats to Anthony for the Season Championship!! I had a great year trying to chase you.

Putnam was a lot of fun and I had a good first race, staying close to Anthony till the finish. The second race was one to many for my tires as they just gave up. I saw times drop from the 24s into the 28s by the end. It was entertaining sliding around every corner, but not competitive.

Thanks to all the SpecE30 racers for a great season of racing!!

You don’t need too much more power. You are just down at the peak. In the lower RPM range you are actually better then most I Have seen. That would make an awesome GTS1 tune with a weight around 2600#. Lots of area under that curve. I kinda hope you don’t get it figured out so the rest of us will still have a chance.

It doesn’t feel down on power, but you can definately pull me on the straights and I just can’t have that. My Dad had some serious problems with his car on Sunday so I didn’t get a chance to check my TPS. We’re looking for another engine for my Dad. His car dropped the #2 exhaust valve… I think I may have adjusted his valve clearances too tight.

Thanks guys!! It was a great year and I just really hope that the region keeps growing! Some of you saw us making tweaks to the car and, well, we’ve got a great group of drivers out there. We’re constantly trying to learn and get quicker because I’m sure I won’t be able to fend you guys off forever!

I’ll post the update to my website, with video, hopefully this week.

Thanks again guys. It’s been such a pleasure racing with you!

(Thanks again to the Osbornes for providing an exceptionally tasty lunch, once again!)

Don’t worry Michael his video doesn’t even go to 15:05. It was at 13:35 and in turn 2 :). Looking forward to doing a couple of events next year.

Man, that track was slick!!

Nice video! Your car looked a bit more loose than mine and especially in turn 8. It must have been that prototype splitter that upset your balance…

Honestly, I think Putnam needs its own setup. The car was not at all what I would call “good”. In case you didn’t notice, you pulled off the fastest lap of the 2nd race. Nice job!

I’m really looking forward to doing battle with you next year

I’m looking forward to next year as well. To get my power up, I’m either swapping engines are doing a head refresh over the winter.

Talking about setup, what do you typically change from track to track? I’m still sorting out cross weight, camber, toe, etc… Considering that most of the tracks I’ve run on have mostly right hand turns, it may be advantages to bias cross weight for turning right.

Just tire pressures for me. Setup sounds like a lot of work :).

Really pays to have a someone on the radio for restarts!

At 14:20 I felt like queuing the Dukes Of Hazzard theme. Looked rough on the in-car. Watching from the pit lane you had a good 2ft + under all four tires. Nice!

Here is a video of some ‘highlights’ in the DE. Hopefully it will make you laugh.

I had a blast hanging out with everyone. Can’t wait to race with you all next year.

Nice compilation! The spin in turn 1 was really fun. Good luck at the comp school in the spring!

I posted my race write-up on my website, if anyone is interested. Just click HERE!

Btw, Richard, what camera setup are you using?

I’m using a Canon Elura 100 MiniDV camcorder with a Opteka 27mm wide angle lens on I/O Port Mount. The lens was $25 and the camera was cheap on ebay. It’s a pretty inexpensive solution that works well other than starting and stopping the video. I’m trying to figure out how to remotely control…
