Putnam Lap Times?

#1

I looked the OH/IN race results from last year and didn’t see anything for SpecE30.

I’m I just missing it somewhere?

What are SpecE30 times for Putnam?

Thx!

Noone has run there yet in a Spec E30 although I’m sure Osborne has a good idea of times as he has run there before in GTS1 trim. A 1.23 is probably a pretty good time in a spec E30. I’ll be there in May.

I have never run an officially timed lap there with a transponder - just HPDE.

Looking over videos I made when I was there runnig HPDE or CCA Driving School, I would agree, 1:23 is probably a darn good time.

1:23 is a good time. I think I got to the high 1:22’s in the GTS/ITS/KP car.

The Spec E30 is different but not that much slower. So I vote 1:23 Don’t be surprised to see Simon put down a 1:21.9 or something obsene.

Well in 35 deg weather on Sunday, Kyle & I got into 1:23s and Sean, who has never driven RWD on the track before but lots of FWD, was at a low 1:24. Car is nice an predictable.

Noticeable wheel spin in 3 or 4 places at that pace and temperature. Not being familiar with the car, I don’t know if that’s normal, indicates diff troubles or is just due to low low temperature.

Our day did end one session early when the passenger front spring decided to relocate itself off the spring base on the strut. I’ll post when I have time in the suspension forum to see if other people have had that happen.

More details and some video to come later, maybe next weekend since I’m heading out of town for a business trip.

Bottom line we all had a blast driving the car and are very much looking forward to this season.

Soften the rear bar assuming you are running it at full stiff.

Never heard of that happening.

do you still have the rubber spacers at the top and bottom of the spring installed? Just wondering if there might be a correlation with removing them.

Thanks for the tip! I don’t know where it’s at right now but I’ll look next weekend when we are fixing the strut.

The May Putnam event should be the first race weekend for this car. I’ll be at the April event but in the Honda Challenge class. When we get the post event write-ups started we’ll have our whole “intent” schedule up.

Yep we still have the rubber upper and lower spacers. If we had a spring compressor in our kit we could have fixed it really quickly. But I’m still at a total loss as to how/why it popped out? Something we’ll be keeping an eye on.

-Kyle (who’s putting the spring compressor on the workbench so we don’t forget to pack it in the trailer.)

We certainly will. I’ll be there crewing for Jeremy. Sean and I are doing our comp school on Friday. Wish us luck.

Looking forward to meeting some fellow SE30 drivers!
