Process for getting a car #?

#1

How do end up with a specific number for your car? I’m in the SE region. A couple weeks ago I sent an email to the guy that I thought was the SE Regional honcho asking to be assigned #6, but no answer. Since that didn’t work, who is it that I’m supposed to ask?

My car will likely only go to Roebling and CMP next year, so maybe it doesn’t even matter?

You want to talk to Julie Pantas. juliepantas@nasa-southeast.com

You’ll want to check what numbers are already being used, but you probably won’t need to "reserve" a number officially.

Sure would be nice if there was a national database on these. That way when we show of for the National you don’t have a bunch of guys having to change their graphics.

BTW, this was going to be one of my next questions so thanks for asking it.

Hi Jeremy,

Welcome to the addiction. Check here for the car numbers in Indiana/Ohio. There is a "quick link" to car numbers. At least for this region.

here is the problem…unless your race class has its own run group, there will be different classes in your run group…those other classes may have cars with the number you want…you go to a different region and there may be different groupings of classes leading to no end to conflicts…this is the biggest pain in the registration process. it takes a long time to make sure the car numbers are sorted out and inevitably I will be there at pit in Sat. AM stopping the cars that didn’t heed the email I sent advising of a number change…this is also why there are THREE fields for car number when you register…if I have to change your number I look to your chosen alternates. If you don’t list any, I will guess and do my best to make it an easy change. As an aside, it is a bad idea to paint your number on the car…it makes changing it more difficult.

Entry early and take a roll of masking tape.

repeat…

Is there any way of having a region designator? That way if cars from different regions have the same number you can distinguish between them. It’s like that in some other series I’ve seen.

in a word, No - the Timing&Scoring equipment can’t handle that. For corner workers, the combo of number and car color at least must be different.
It is usually not a problem to add a 1 with tape to either side of your number to differentiate cars.

Do what Skeen said if you want to reserve a number for the whole year. It costs $40 and there is an application you fill out. I just got mine approved this week.

If it is only two events, take your chances.
