Post race impound and penalties for contact

Jim has alerted the Directors re. some changes. This is early truth so we’ll have to see how it all evolves.

  1. Post race impound. All racers go to post race impound after a race. Nevit controls the impound area. If you were not involved in any contact you will be released. If you were involved in contact fill out a contact form and check with Nevit to get released.

Altho this might seem like a pita, it’s our own fault. There’s been too many cases of drivers not filling out contact forms so we got the screws tightened on us. I don’t mean little piddly stuff where there’s a tire mark and no one cares, I mean more serious stuff where one driver fills out a form but the other guy in the incident is nowhere to be found. If it makes you feel any better, the SCCA types have long sat in post race impound for no darn reason at all, except to protest each other’s cars.

  1. Penalties for contact. Altho the email to the class directors emphasized that Jim will be coming down hard on contact, this probably just brings everyone else to us, rather then changing our “consequences” philosophy any.

Scott, a note on SCCA racing. It is normal for post race impound of 30 minutes for two reasons. First, to inspect cars as necessary, and second to allow time for any protests to be filed. Just part of the normal procedure. Those can be mechanical or contact protest.
