I’ve had the IE poly steering disc sitting in a box for the last year, and with the head off right now I figured I should install it while I have the extra elbow room. The disc has 4 brass inserts and self locking nuts in the bag with it, but the old disc looks like its held in with 4 giant rivets. Do I cut out the rivets and buy bolts to fit or is there some trick to doing it. Bentley doesn’t mention replacing the disc.

I just wanted clarification that this is not legal for SpecE30. The rules say steering components can be:
“Substituted” means that original OEM equivalent items may be used.
Is the disc something I should consider looking at and replacing?

Looks like your right about substitutions. As a general rule everything that is rubber on the car is rotten and will disintegrate. The original disc is also not made for the added force of removing the power steering.
