Planning to run SpecE30

#1

Just wanted to say hello, especially since Carter is urging us to use this forum, rather than the Yahoo! group.

I live in Northern Virginia and have an '87 325iS (purchased 4/4/05) that I am slowly transforming into a street-legal SO-class SpecE30.

Right now, it’s a nasty Lachsilber/Hazy Clearcoat color, with a custom rollbar by Chris Schimmel, 6-pt G-Force Pro camlocks, Recaro pole position + Corbeau Forza II seats, a single set of Bimmerworld’s Team Dynamics Pro Race I’s with some slightly used Hankook R-comps and the SpecE30 suspension.

The next project is the Roadster diff cover swap.

Any advice on kill switch placement/brand?

BTW, can we have a few ‘more-general-sounding’ forum areas, so that we can fulfill all the needs served by Yahoo?

Thanks,
Dan Smith

PS – I also drive a black ‘87 635CSi, that I used to AutoX and track at NCCBMWCCA drivers’ schools.

Also, is it possible to enable the ability to go back and edit our past posts?

Thanks.

Hi there,
Just found my way here too, since we all will be here soon. I second the "General category"

Carter, David & Alex,

I just wanted to say how good it was to put faces with names, this weekend at Summit Point. (And it was nice seeing Steve and Eric Wong, again.)

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get into an HPDE at VIR (-1 and -2 are full and I don’t yet qualify for -3 – I’ve never run in a NASA school, as yet.) That said, I do plan to show up on Saturday, to say hi and catch the action on the track.

Thanks, again.

Where did you find 2 sets of RA-1’s for $960?!?!?!? I assume that doesn’t include shaving, shipping, or sales tax?

Yup, I’m planning to run next year as well. I’m in the midwest so there’s not many people running this here (if any right now) but with our car and at least one other in the works there will be a couple of us. I think if we publicize that we’re building there will be a couple others. We will be promoting this series heavily in this region over the next several months as well build our car (which we are shopping for now!).

As soon as we get our car and start the process we will do a documented build on our website so that everyone can see what we’re doing. Our car will also be available for rent but mostly I will be the one racing it.

I’m really looking forward to getting back to "equal cars" racing like I used to have in JS. CM is great fun no doubt but it’s hit or miss for competition.

Anyway, we will update as things get underway! Cheers!

Unfortunately, I can’t make it down to VIR this weekend, after all. But, I will be at Summit Point for sure, in September (HPDE-2).
