PFC01 brake pads going away?

#1

Just got off of the phone with the folks at BrakeShopper. They say that Performance Friction has discontinued the PFC01 for the E30. If true, that’s a bummer. Nice pad.

Later edit. Just talked to PF. The reason the pad is going away is because they are coming out with a new “endurance” pad with torque characteristics similar to the PFC01. The new pad will “probably” be made for our car.

I for one am a Performance Friction 01 fan, so I hope there’s no dead time between the new pad and the 01s.

I hadn’t heard that they are going away, but I also have a few sets on hand if anybody is into hoarding.

The PFC-01 is listed as special order or discontinued because we ordered a special production run of that compound in those shapes. We had to order 100 sets front and rear and we stock and own all of them. We even sent calipers and rotors down so they could verify measurements and get the compounding done correctly. James thought the compound was good enough we needed to be able to offer it.

The reason raceshopper doesn’t have them is because they haven’t bought them from me. PFC has alot of new guys and they might not have known why that part number was in the 07-08 catalog. The only previous listed pad was the 278 80 compound which I got the last of a couple years ago. When we run low on current inventory we’ll get more, or update to the new 06 compound as it looks very promising. You will also find this pad at some of our associates like Factory 3 or Carr Industries, they have also ordered a few sets for stock recently.

So don’t worry we will continue to offer a Performance Friction pad in at least one compound that fits our needs on the E30.

Thanks, Rob and Bimmerworld. I’ve been very happy with mine on all four corners.
