Pending rules?

#1

Trying to get the car finished up. What rules are still pending?

Is max camber going to be reduced from the current -3.5deg? (re Carter’s post from a couple months back)
Stock airbox? (also in Carter’s discussion list)
Max track width: is 168cm the final number?

What else is still pending? Am I missing anything?

Disclaimer, none of these answers are official just my opinion. Also none of these things really should have any bearing on you finishing your build.

I doubt it. You probably can’t legally get to -3.5 anyway so don’t worry about it. Set the camber plates all the way in and check you aren’t over 3.5 pretty simple. FYI, I was around -2.8 to -3.

Just run the stock airbox, it works well, leave it alone.

Why do you think the track width would change? Just get any of the popular wheels and run them without spacers. If you want to add spacers later you can. Personally I’m not a big fan of running large spacers. I run the Kazera wheels with 5mm spacers.

My car is legal and my alignment guy was able to get -3.5 degrees on both sides with the IE adjustable camber plates.

Simon, none of these are issues are preventing the car from getting to the track, just “to do” items. Only “must items” are the graphics/labeling and a new log book. Going to Putnam this weekend for a shake down. First race should be Putnam in May. I’m driving a different car & class at the April MidO event.

My concern has with camber has to do with if we need to do something to get more chamber as we are not at the limit. My limited past experience with Toyos is that they like as much camber as you can give them.

Airbox: Stock one was already gone when we bought the car so I was just trying to find out if the rule has been decided. If it has I’m not going to mess with making a heat shield.

Track: unknown offset wheels on the car (best guess/ruler measurement is 25mm) and we are at ~1640. Need to order more wheels so we wanted to make sure that 1680 was the final number so that we can maximize the wheel with no need for spacers.

Can anyone think of any other items still under the “pending rules” category?

Looking forward to seeing you out there, stop by and say hi if you get a chance.

I hear you there, as you can see some cars can get there and I would say most can’t. I know I can’t. It depends on the car and how much the towers have sagged over time. If you can’t get to -3.5 there is nothing you can do.

I have no idea, sorry.

from past email conversations with Carter, 1680mm track should allow down to ET10 wheels, which would likely rub.
