After speaking with, and receiving written reports from the drivers involved, the decision has been made regarding metal-to-metal contact this past weekend.
At the opening NASA Mid Atlantic Region race weekend, during the Saturday sprint race, Chris Cobetto’s car made avoidable contact with Victor Hall’s car. Per the CCR, Chris’ left front wheel was not up to or beyond the driver position of Vic’s car. Chris’ front bumper made contact with Vic’s right rear wheel, resulting in Vic spinning and losing one position. Chris’ car suffered some bumper damage - Vic’s car suffered very little, if any damage.
During the same race, Chris’ front bumper made avoidable contact with the right rear corner of Skip Bennett’s car, causing a spin. Skip’s car suffered very little, if any damage.
Specific to this case; Chris does not have a reputation for hitting other cars, his car was the only car that suffered damage, and he volunteered to give the position back to Vic.
However, because of these incidents, Chris Cobetto loses one position in the race (affecting his Toyo Bucks award), loses Mid Atlantic Championship points for that race, and is placed on probation for the next Mid Atlantic race. If Chris causes an avoidable metal-to-metal incident during the next race, in any session, while on probation, he is suspended for the following race.
