Paint or not, that's the question.

#1

I got my cage from Kirk Racing, not the quality I expected, but I’m told it’s better than the Autopower cage.
Anyways, it will be installed next week.
Here is the question:
Everybody paints their cage after installation, for obvious (sp?) reasons. Can I paint most of the cage before installation, and leave the welding spots bare, and just paint them later? It should be easier to touch up after installation instead of painting the entire cage in tight spaces.
What kind of paint do you recommend?
Thanx.

I’d powdercoat if you have a chance. Paint would be great, but if you get too close it may be a PITA to sand off the scorched paint. I’d probably do it tho.

Good ol’ rustoleum did the trick for my cage.

I brushed on Rust-Oleum on my 911 cage and it worked out just fine. Probably do the same for the e30 cage. You’ll get a nice, thick coat of the paint vs. the spray-can approach.
