one seat open for 24 Hours of LeMons next weekend

#1

The car is totally done and ready to go. 1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, running in a full 24 hour enduro at No Problem Raceway in Louisiana next weekend. I have one seat open, $1250 gets you in, all inclusive.

In the event you say “man, that’s expensive” (no offense taken, I said the same thing) take a quick look:

The entry fee is $1100 for the car and 4 drivers with the LeMons license. It will eat two sets of tires $1350. Fuel cell was $500. Brakes $300. It will destroy all 4 rotors (new rotors on as we speak). I have a $500 spare parts inventory. Diesel for the hauler up and back is $800. The car will eat another $600 in gas. I’m paying a metal fabricator to make an indestructible fuel cell cage in the event of a hard rear impact, as well as a custom light bar for the headlights. The light bar along with 4 KC daylighters ($200 for the lights)has been made and is on the car as we speak.

By way of safety, the car has a full cage with NASCAR side bars, 4 rear downbars, etc. The car is safe. Stainless steel brake lines all around. Fire extinguisher inside.

We are coming to have fun, but also to win.

E-mail me at smckay@mckay-law.com if interested.

You didn’t mention the $ penalties for black flags.

That’s true. $200 each time you do something stupid that causes a black flag. This team is going to run penalty free or we’re eating dinner at your expense.

Holy crap that’s expensive for a LeMons arrive and drive!! You can’t really charge an arrive and drive driver for the cost of building the car. Registration fee and consumables only.

Good luck staying out of the penalty box!!

Looks like about $3300 worth of registration and consumables. That makes the $1250 for arrive and drive seem kinda reasonable.

Yo Scott

Tell Jay Lamm I got some fumunda cheese for him…

Yes, LeMons is expensive. I just did the SCCA 13 hour, I think my drivers spent around $700 each and we had zero transport cost. The entry fee to LeMons is crazy.

We are at about $3400 in registration and consumables right now, and that doesn’t include diesel in the hauler. I also supply all the food and drink too, and lodging in the new trailer. I know the $1250 aint cheap, but the math doesn’t lie. Its not a big deal, I’ll drive two shifts if needed. I’m way deep into the expense column on this one, but it will be fun.

Scott, I’d love to join you all, but my family would be very, very unhappy.
