One More Rookie and Car Build Photos

#1

After 10 months, 300 man hours, my first try at a paint job and numerous other delays, got the car finished and went out to Mid Ohio on Sept 10th and got the Rookie Comp License.

I checked with Joe Casella, our NE Region prez and he said they would accept certification from the Mid Ohio School for a NE Rookie Permit. Not sure if that is the case in other regions. Great school, Indy Lights drivers as instructors. If you go, make sure they know its for your license, there was some confusion when I got there, but it worked out.

XX Tuning in E. Hartford did the tech and gave me a logbook as Mid Ohio did not issue logbooks.

More of those other pesky commitments kept me from staying to meet everyone at the Nationals (Nice work Sean, holding up the NE colors:)

Here’s a gallery of the build.

First races at WGI on the 12th and 13th of Oct, keep the nose clean and see you at the Nats next year!

Awesome! Congrats on finishing Comp School. I had thought you mentioned something about Comp School at Mid-Ohio, but I didn’t know when it was. I’ll be up at The Glen next month also, so you’ll have at least one other person to race against. See you at the track.

I’ll also be at the Glen next month…not racing though, cars not ready. Just there to meet faces and steal ideas

Christian,

Very nice job on your build! I’m getting ready to install my dash pad as I took it out for the cage installation. It looks like my dash bar is about in the same location as yours. I trying to figure the best way to re-install the dash. You have one photo of the cutout you did (which is what I was thinking of doing to save the end mounting points). I was wondering if you could you post a couple of additional photos of the area where the dash and roll cage meets as it is installed?

Also, a quick test fit of the instrument cluster shows it will be pushed out about an inch or so from it’s original factory position. Yours might be doing the same. How did you install your cluster?

Thanks in advance…I really like the job you did on your car!

Cheers,

Nice build! I might steal the fire system mount idea - very neat. What kind of Subframe Mounts did you use? They look nothing like mine! I thought there were only 2 suppliers around. Your car looks like our car’s 2 door twin!

Car looks great. It looks to me like the subframe mount is upside down. Does not the part that sticks out go up into the body. I have heard of putting these on upside down to make the car a little lower.

Also, Take a look at your rear sway bar mounts to the trailing arm. You may want to rotate those 90 degrees or you might bend the link (ask how we know that).

Good Luck.
